Guidance Effect

So I want to write up the effect that will add a 1d4 to a roll when used. Though I have no idea on how this.

Any help would be great.

DM is a nice title for the one running the game. But I like my term better. G.O.D Games Operations Director

Monkn, You can make an effect, but their are a couple of problems, it will automatically be applied to the next attack, the actual guidance effect lets the player decide when they want to use it. FG can't predict that. The effect you can make would have to be written for an attack or a save or a skill roll, again, this differs from the spell, and FG can't predict or tell the difference.

So, this one you can't really do as an automated effect. What we do is either a house rule saying it gets used automatically on the next roll, or we play where it is up to the user to decide when they are going to use it (we add an effect to CT with no actual effect, and use it just as a reminder) and when they do they roll a 1d4, drag to the result to the modifier box, and then make their roll.

Create effect on PC with the Guidance spell.
Guidance [Spell] Guidance; CHECK: 1d4 Targeting = Targets and Expend = On Next Roll. Expiry 1 Min
Drag it onto the target (or use targeting) when they make their check.

This is covered in the 5e Effects examples here. Near bottom of page.

[Edit]: On reflection, LordEntrail's solution is probably better because the target can choose before or after making the ability check when to use the Guidance.
