The Driver Knowledge Test is the first step in getting your driver licence. You can complete the online test at home or book an in-person test and do it at a service centre.

The DKT is a test you must pass to apply for your C class (car) learner licence. To pass the test you need to answer questions about road rules and safe driving behaviour. It can be completed online or in person.

Driver Knowledge Test online

The DKT online is an interactive 4-6 hour course and test that you can work through at your own pace at home or anywhere you can get internet access. It includes practice tests and quizzes.

You can enrol in DKT online at 15 years and 11 months. However, you can only apply for a learner licence once you are 16 years or older.

You can sit the test at the end of the course, as many times as it takes to pass and you only pay one test fee.

Once you have passed the test, please visit a service centre to pay the fee and apply for your licence. You do not need to make a booking.

The DKT online is available in English and Simplified Chinese.

If you require an interpreter or want to take the test in other languages you must book a DKT in-person which you sit at a service centre.
